Ulysse Joseph d'Entremont est né le 7 janvier 1894 à Pubnico-Ouest et il est mort le 31 août 1975. Il est allé à la première guerre mondiale. Ses médailles se trouvent dans ce fond.
Dans l’année 1917 il a reçu un certificate de Royal Canadian Volunteer Reserves. Pendant 1919-1925, il était premier lieutenant sur le HMCS Niobe. En 1923, il a reçu son certificate come maître pour les bateaux à vapeur et en 1925, il était administrateur principal voyagent au Antilles.
Il a épousé :Lorette Françoice d'Eon qui est née le 24 août 1899 à Pubnico-Ouest le haut et elle est morte le 5 novembre 2001. Ils sont mariés le 29 octobre 1924 à l'église St. Pierre. Ils ont eu trois enfants.
Hubert Rémi est né le 1 octobre 1925 à Pubnico-Ouest et il démenagé à Ontario ou il s'est marié et a fait sa vie. ll est mort le 25 septenbre 1997 à Ingersoll, Ontario.
Delbé Joseph est né le 9 décembre 1926 à Pubnico-Ouest et il demeure avec ses parents. Il ne se marie pas. Il est mort le 30 juin 2004 à Pubnico-Ouest.
Lucie Marguerite Marie est née le 25 mai 1929 à Pubnico-Ouest. Elle épouse Wallace Guillaume d'Entremont le 27 novembre 1956 à l'église St Pierre. Elle démenage à Pubnico-Ouest le bas. Elle est morte le 15 juillet 2006 à l'hôpital de Yarmouth. Aucun des trois enfants n'a eu d'enfants.

McDaniel family

Capt. John McDaniel (1816 – 1882) was the second son of Henry McDaniel (1787 – 1842) and Catherine (Umlah / Hemlow) McDaniel (1795 – 1868). John McDaniel and his brother James ran a regular packet service, and in 1864-5, “ John McDaniel and Co.” ran two schooners, between Halifax and Sherbrooke. John held many public offices in Sherbrooke (River Pilot, Inspector of Weights and Measures, Fish Inspector, Beef and Pork Inspector, Coal Measurer, Trustee of Booms, Trustee and later Commissioner of the Court House and Jail, sat on the Grand Jury, and later was a Magistrate, and Judge of the Court of Probate).

He established two ferry services, one across Wine Harbour to the gold diggings (1862) and the other across the St. Mary’s River below Sherbrooke, connecting Sherbrooke to the Goldenville mining district. He established a dock on his land on the western bank of the St. Mary’s River and worked to have a road opened between his wharf and the main road to Goldenville, then instituted a ferry service across the river.

He established McDaniel’s Hotel (Sherbrooke Hotel) ca 1863, in the village of Sherbrooke. He operated a carriage service to transport guests from the dock to the hotel. He operated a store, had a stable and wagon shed, ran a livery service and transported freight from the wharf to his store and made deliveries to Antigonish. John McDaniel married Mary Bent, daughter of William Bent (also known as William Trowbridge).

Lomas family

Alton Anderson Lomas was born 29 March 1927 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Alton Inkerman Lomas, manager of the Henry Birks & Sons store, and Mary Forbes (Anderson) Lomas, a schoolteacher from a prominent family in Sherbrooke, NS. One year later, Aleah Henderson Palmer was born 8 June 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, to businessman Ingham Wright Palmer and Maude (Henderson) Palmer. The Palmers were Canadian, and returned to Canada in 1933, settling in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. In 1948, Alton (Al) and Aleah met as undergraduate students with a mutual interest in History, and the couple wed in 1949. 
Al and Aleah lived in Halifax and Windsor, Nova Scotia, as well as Borden, Ontario, until Al was appointed to the Canadian Foreign Trade Commissioner Service in 1953. From 1953-1982, Al worked as Vice-Consul and Assistant Commissioner at the Canadian Government Trade Commission in Detroit, Michigan; Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico; Trade Commissioner and Commercial Secretary of the Canadian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium; Trade Commissioner, Canadian Consulate General and Canadian Delegate to the United Nations Development Program in New York City, New York; Senior Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce in Ottawa, ON; Assistant Deputy Minister at Nova Scotia Department of Development, then Secretary to the Council of Maritime Premiers in Halifax, NS; and Senior Trade Officer and Minister of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, China.  
After Al Lomas retired from government service, he and Aleah moved to Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, where they dedicated themselves to community service. In 1983, Aleah became Librarian and Storytime Leader at Sherbrooke Library, and in the 1990s, she reported on local news for CBC radio. She was also appointed to serve on the Historic Sherbrooke Restoration Commission. Al and Aleah collected extensive research on the Municipality of St. Mary’s with the intention of publishing a historical account of the area. The couple had two children, and five grandchildren. After Al Lomas passed away 17 June, 2000, Aleah continued her volunteer work. She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Heritage Award and the Sir John Coape Sherbrooke Heritage Award in 2004. In 2005, Aleah married Murray Anderson, and they remained together until Aleah passed away on 18 August 2012.

McCabe, Baxter (family)
Baxter McCabe Family · Family · 1863 -

John Baxter McCabe (1863 - 1950) was born on 6 August 1863 to Asa McCabe (1825 - 1901) and Dorothy Downing (1827 - 1912). He married Jane Creelman (1869 - 1938) on 30 April 1892. The family settled at Greenfield, Colchester County, NS, where he worked as a farmer. Their children included: Perley Elmer McCabe (1893 - 1979), Edith Mildred (McCabe) Dickson (1896 - 1954), Jessie Creelman (McCabe) Pyke (1901 - ), June Marie McCabe (1902 - ), Helen Jane McCabe (1905 - ), and Irwin Ross McCabe (1909 - ). Perley married Loella J. Stevens in 1917; they had a son, Lorne, and a daughter, Doris Jane (1922 - ), who was a civil servant and volunteer member of the Canadian Women's Army Corps during World War II.

Blaikie Family
Blaikie Family · Family · 1837 - present

The Blaikie Family lineage begins with John McKay Blaikie (1837 – 1929), prominent merchant, shipbuilder, and lumberman of the mid- to late-1800s. He and his first wife, Adelaide McLellan, had three sons and a daughter. Their sons were John Arthur Blaikie (1862 – 1938), a customs officer; Thomas David Blaikie (1864 – 1951), owner and manager of the Great Village Creamery; and Gloud Wilson Blaikie (1867 – 1930), owner and operator of the Londonderry Stove Works Co. Their daughter, Annie Blanche Blaikie (1860 - 1879), died at 19-years-old. After the death of Adelaide, John McKay married her first cousin, Melinda Gould (nee McLellan) (1842 – 1920). All three sons married and remained in the area until their deaths; only John Arthur and Gloud Wilson had children. The descendants of the Blaikie Family continued to occupy the Great Village area of Nova Scotia for over a century.

Smith, George R. (family)
George R. Smith Family · Family · [1858 - 1977]

George R. Smith was born in 1858, the son of Sydney Holmes and Agnes (Ray) Smith. He was a trader and store-owner in the Londonderry and later in the Sydney area of Nova Scotia. In 1882 he married Emma G. McNutt, and the couple had six children: Aubrey (b. 1884), Cyril B. (b. 1887), Minnie Florine (b. 1889), Lloyd K. (b. 1891), Raymond (b. 1895), and Ernest G. (b. 1898). The three youngest sons served in World War I. Ernest married Christina Agnes, and they lived in Elmsdale, Hants County, where Ernest ran a store. Raymond lived in Halifax and worked for the Great West Life Assurance Co. and married Josephine M. Gass. The couple had three sons. Florine never married and lived much of her life with her brother Lloyd, who operated a garage in Truro, N.S. She died in 1977. Cyril married and lived in Halifax. He died in 1976.

Akins (family)

Thomas Akin (1702-1775) and his son Stephen (1739-1827) of New England were grantees at the founding of the Township of Falmouth, N.S. in 1760. Stephen married Elizabeth King in New Jersey in 1761 and returned to Falmouth where their five children were born. Their eldest son Thomas (1762-1832) married Margaret Ott Beamish (d. 1809) and changed his surname to Akins after moving to Liverpool where he was an insurance broker and merchant. Their only child, Thomas Beamish (1809-1891), became a barrister and was appointed commissioner of public records for Nova Scotia in 1857. Captain John Stephen Akins (1796-1867), son of John (1766-1859) and Rebecca (1771-1826) and grandson of Stephen and Elizabeth, married Margaret Wilson in 1832. Their son Charles Edward (1833-1914), a farmer and orchardist, was married to Elizabeth Armstrong and had eight children. Charles' son Thomas Bernard Akins (1871-1959) participated in the organization of the Avon River Power Company Ltd. in 1923.

d'Entremont, Pauline Annette

Fille de feu Louis Justinien et Thérèse (d’Entremont) d’Entremont, elle est allée à l’école élémentaire de Pubnico-Ouest jusqu’à la 8ième année lorsque comme c’était la coutume, en ce temps, elle quitta l’école pour aller au travail afin d’aider ses parents. Une personne désireuse d’étudier, elle continua ses études les soirs et reçu son certificat de la douzième année. (N.S. GED). Pendant les années 1993-1996, elle retourna aux études au collège communautaire « Collège de l’Acadie ».

Pauline a fait partie de nombreux comités et organisations, a travaillé dans différents domaines et a été, et est toujours, bénévole lors de plusieurs événements communautaires. Grâce à ses connaissances en généalogie, elle est toujours prête à aider au Musee des Acadiens des Pubnicos. Elle a collaboré à deux livres de généalogie pour les réunions de familles pendant le Congrès Mondiale.

Elle a reçu plusieurs prix, insignes et récompenses. Elle a reçu le prix de platine du Jubilé de la Reine Elizabeth en reconnaissance de son engagement et de ses contributions. Ainsi que la médaille de Ordre de la Pléiade pour son dévouement et son engagement à préserver la culture et le patrimoine acadiens et la langue française dans notre province. Elle a aussi reçu la médaille du Souverain pour le bénévolat.
Prix du Gouverneur général pour l’entraide reconnu pour son travail bénévolement au Archives Père Clarence d’Entremont.
L’Argyle Townsship Heritage Award présenter comme l’auteur principale pour la rédaction de la publication du livre Cinq générations des de Jacques Muis-d`Entremont et Marguerite Amirault.
Prix Carmen V. Carroll – donner par la Fédération des femmes acadiennes de la Nouvelle-Ecosse pour ses contributions exceptionnelles à l’avancement des femmes Acadiennes.

Sylvester d'Entremont · Family · 1940-2005

Sylvester Ambroise (affectuesement connue comme Foot John) était le fils de feu Robert d’Entremont et de feue Marie d’Entremont. Il fut née le19 janvier 1923.
Il était ancien combattant de la 2ième guerre mondiale. Il fut parti de les Cape Breton Highlanders. Il a reçu les médailles : Étoile d’Italie, Étoile France/Allemagne et la médaille du service volontaire canadien et agrafe
Il était ancien capitaine de les bateau « Miss Clare » et le « Pic O Sea ».
Il était membre à vie de la succursale 66 de la légion royale canadienne òu il était gérant.
Le 7 décembre 1950, il épousa Marie Céleste d’Eon. Ils eurent un garçon.
Il est décédé le 11 Septembre 2005.

Family

André LeBlanc was born in Middle East Pubnico, Nova Scotia on June 12, 1823. On May 1st, 1855, André married Marie Anne Pothier, who was born in Ste. Anne du Ruisseau in 1832. They had 12 children. Their third son Louis Léander, who was born on June 23, 1861, married Rose Magdeleine Amirault on January 16, 1899. Louis Léander, who was also known as Sny, and his family lived with his parents and the house was intended to be passed on to him. Louis Léander and Rose had five children. On Rose's death in 1967, the property was passed on to her son, Louis J. (Louis Sny) LeBlanc. None of the five children ever married. André LeBlanc's son Rudolph, also has records in this fonds along with Evelyn Esther LeBlanc, daughter of Rose and Louis Leander.
