Mills Motors was owned and operated by F. Stewart Mills out of the former Farmer's Hotel / Sinclair Inn building in Annapolis Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. Mills Motors sold cars and was the local dealer for the Ford Motor Company. Mills Motors also sold Irving Oil and Gas products, Dominion tires, and tubes, ran a tax service, supplied hardwood, did work on dykes in the area, collected and sold bottles, as well as a variety of other activities.

Al Kingsbury was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, 20 December 1938. He worked as a compositor for the Halifax Herald for 18 years. In 1980 he was transferred to the Editorial Department and was named Bureau Chief of the Valley Bureau, with responsibility for all news gathering, features, etc., for the Annapolis Valley, from Windsor to Digby. Kingsbury retired in 1994.

Fortier Lumber Co. Ltd. was incorporated in 1962 at Annapolis County, N.S. The business began in 1932, established by Thomas H.H. Fortier, a lumber exporter. It exported 2-3 million board feet of lumber annually. Fortier Lumber Co. closed in 1973.

Thomas H.H. Fortier had been appointed president and general manager of the Annapolis Hardwood Company, where he had been an employee since 1920. Fortier was a lumber exporter and owner of Fortier Lumber Co. Ltd. The Hardwood company closed in 1932 and in that same year, Fortier partnered with H. Gordon McCormick, Charles Fickes and H.L. McCormick under the title Hardwood Specialities Ltd., which manufactured educational toys and other childrens' items. They sold these products throughout Canada and the United States and overseas to United Kingdom, Africa, Australia and Malaysia. This plant was completely destroyed by fire in June 1966, and the business was subsequently closed.

In 1932, Fortier established the Fortier Lumber Company. Also that same year he partnered with H. Gordon McCormick, Charles Fickes and H.L. MacCormick, under the name Hardwood Specialties Ltd. The company manufactured educational toys and other children's items, which were internationally exported. The plant was destroyed by fire in 1966, and was not reopened. The Fortier Lumber Company closed in 1973.

The schooner Emma E. Potter was built in Clements, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia in 1897 for Samuel Potter and owned by John S. Lent of Freeport. It was used to carry lumber from the railway wharf at Annapolis Royal.

Israel L. Delap was born at Lower Granville, Annapolis County, N.S. in 1841. He married Lucretia Crosscup. He was a shipping merchant and captain of the Troop Fleet vessels, among them were the barques Crown Jewel and Mistletoe. Delap died in Africa in 1891 while making a voyage on board the Bartholde, of which he was builder and part owner.

Ebenezer Cutler was born in 1741 at Sutton, Mass. He married Miriam Eager 24 November 1764 at Oxford, Mass. They had two daughters, Catherine and Hesdeliah. At Annapolis Royal Ebenezer served as Deputy Prothonotary of the Supreme Court and Clerk of the Peace. He also operated a general store. Cutler died in 1831 at Annapolis Royal.
