Biographical history

Alan Ruffman is a marine geologist, Dalhousie University alumnus, honorary research associate and adjunct professor in the Department of Earth Sciences, and an adjunct professor in the School of Planning at Dalhousie University. He is the author of Titanic Remembered: The Unsinkable Ship and Halifax, and Ground Zero: A Reassessment of the 1917 Explosion in Halifax Harbour.

Custodial history

Records were donated to the Dalhousie University Archives by Alan Ruffman in two accessions: (1987-044) on June 12, 1987, and (1990-006) on February 14, 1990.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of materials regarding Alan Ruffman's contributions to the Atlantic Sub-committee of Oceanography (ASCO) and the Canadian Committee on Oceanography (CCO), including reports, manuscripts, correspondence, newspaper clipping, meeting minutes, newsletters and others textual records.
