Biographical history
Alexander A MacRae was born at Antigonish in 1910, the only child of John (a schoolteacher; native of Margaree) and Sarah / Hannah (nee MacDonald of Glen Roy, St Andrews district) MacRae. The family lived in Antigonish Town and resided on College Street. Alexander was educated in local schools and attended St F X. He served as Registrar of Deeds until the time of his retirement. He died at Antigonish and is buried alongside his parents in the St Andrews Cemetery.
Custodial history
Records were donated to Antigonish Heritage Museum by Garry Fidler whose father Judge Hugh MacPherson was a very close friend of Alexander MacRae. He retained the records upon the death of Alexander. They were received by the museum Nov 28 2018 Acc# 2018.065.001

Fonds consists of approx. 40 photographic images; letters of correspondence; small pamphlets and publications; a telephone directory (1955); newspaper clippings; legal documents; correspondence and membership card Clan MacRae
