Arthur Kelsall was born at Bradford, England in 1892, the son of James Kelsall. His first wife, Pearle Thomas predeceased him. He remarried Jane Olivia. He immigrated to Canada in 1907 and attended agricultural collecge in 1910 and MacDonald College of McGill University in 1914 and graduated in 1923. Kelsall inlisted in the first contingent of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry in 1915. Two years later he was wounded, loosing the use of one arm. As an adult, Kelsall lived at Annapolis Royal and was mayor for 8 years. He was president of the Canadian Cancer Society, president of the Kentville Rotary Club and a member of the Dominion Executive, as well as an organizer and chair of the N.S. Alcoholism Research Commission, and served on the Nova Scotia Historic Sites Council and Nova Scotia Resources Council. He died in 1974.
