Administrative history

Formed December 4, 1972 to fill the need for a united opera community, the Atlantic Opera Society was committed to promote professional opera in the Atlantic area. The Society was dedicated to helping foster the growth of local talent as well as technical and administrative operatic personnel. It aimed to gain national and international recognition for the local talent it fostered.

Custodial history

The fonds was donated to Dalhousie University in 1976. Prior to that it was in the custody of the Atlantic Opera Society and Ron Foran.

Scope and content

Fonds contains newsletters, programmes, letters to members, as well as society by-laws.
