The Atlantic Provinces Book Review and Service was founded through grants and the authorization of the Canada Council, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. It consists of representatives from the following: the Writers' federation of Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Publishers' Association, the Atlantic Booksellers' Association, the Atlantic Librarians' Association, and members of the newspaper community. The Atlantic Provinces Book Review was published as a community service by Saint Mary's University, in cooperation with the Writer's Foundation of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Publishers Association and reported to the Vice-President Academic and Research of Saint Mary's University. Known editors are: Terry Whalen (1982-1990), David Pigot (1990-1991), and Elizabeth Eve (1991-1992). Only one Board chair is known: Ken MacKinnon (1982-1984). The Service made copies of book reviews available for reprint in other publications. The Review was also made available to newspapers as an insert or "supplement."
