Administrative history

The Atlantic Publishers Association (APA) started in Halifax, NS in 1978. The APA acted as a medium which maintained and grew strong book publishing houses owned and controlled in Atlantic Canada. It was a forum for publishers and those concerned with the publishing industry in Atlantic Canada for exchange of ideas and information. It undertook projects and studies to promote publishers and the publishing industry in Atlantic Canada.

Custodial history

The Atlantic Publishers Association collection was donated to the Dalhousie Archives on July 16, 1995 by Martha Woolarer.

Scope and content

The fonds includes reports (1978-1995), events and conferences (1979-1991), membership (1978-1995), financial records (1978-1991), minutes (1978-1993), correspondence (1978-1985), administrative records (1978-1995), programs (1979-1992), catalogues (1978-1992), newsletters (978-1990) and photographs (1982, n.d.) related to the APA.
