Name of creator
The Atlantic Research Centre (ARC), previously known as the Atlantic Research Centre for Mental Retardation, was established in 1967 as a centennial project of what was then known as the National Institute for the Mentally Retarded. At that time, the staff included four senior investigators and six support staff. That number has grown to a staff of forty-five senior investigators, post-doctoral students, grad students, technicians and many other scientists.
The ARC is associated with Dalhousie's Department of Pediatrics and is affiliated with the IWK-Grace Hospital. All of the senior investigators have appointments at Dalhousie, spanning across several departments including pediatrics and biochemistry.
The records were donated by Dr. M.S. DeWolfe of the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital, in March 1971. Accession 1984-074.
