              Item · 1892 - 1932
              Part of Rachel Wilson Fonds
This item is a black and white photographic print of the Imperial Bass River Brass Band, taken at the top of the bank, behind the 1995 location of Willard Fulton's house, Birch Hill, Bass River, NS. The back is labelled "J. A. Wilson Insurance, Bass River, NS". Percy G. Smith, who was at that time training men for the militia, had a supply of uniforms at his disposal. Several of the young men of the community donned these red coats to have a group picture taken. Some band members were in the group, but many of the young fellows had never blown a note on a musical instrument. Thus this group gives a misleading idea of the size of Bass River's Imperial Band. Back row, left to right: Charlie Corbett, Will Rossander, Percy G. Smith, Albert Giddens, Charlie MacLaughlin, George Urquhart, Fred Finley.Front row, left to right: Billy Murphy, Roland Hogan, Angus Corbett, Norman Corbett, Henry Fulton, Lavers Corbett, Charlie Corbett, Alfred Wright, Billy MacDonald. 95.93.28
