Administrative history

The Carter Area was formed on November 8, 1979 when the Basin Lakeville Area Council presented a motion to the Provincial Council to form a new area. This new Area included Mount Uniacke, Beaver Bank and all of Sackville. The name "Carter" was chosen as a tribute to the late Mr. Francis Carter, a long time resident of Sackville and patron of the Girl Guides. He donated a trophy for which the Guides competed each year. Carter Area consisted of three Districts, with three divisions in each. Cummins Division has Beaver Bank, Mount Uniacke and Todd districts. Metropolitan Division has Caudle Park, Nordic and Polara Districts. Sackville District has Pinehill, Riverside and Cruickshank. Carter Area is currently part of Harvest Trail.
