              Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of cash books (1843-1877, 2 volumes), and meeting minutes of the committee and trustees with an alphabetical list of subscriptions in the back of the book (1835-1847, 1 volume). Records are arranged chronologically in bound volumes. The cash books kept a record of all the incoming monies paid by parishioners. The minute book contains records of expenses paid, such as sexton's fee and cost of materials; ongoing balance of account; resolutions; and observations by Bishop Walsh.

              Collection · 1880 - 1970
              The collection consists primarily of photographs documenting the history of the town of Mahone Bay and the immediate surrounding areas in Lunenburg County. The collection, which includes original photographs, copy prints, and postcards (real photos and halftones), depicts many different facets of the lives of the people of the Mahone Bay community: bands; buildings and street views; celebrations and events; cemeteries; churches; the First World War; the Masonic Lodge; people; photo albums; school photos; the Second World War; shipbuilding; street views; and town views. There are also a number of stereoviews (original photographs and printed halftones) that portray a wide variety of non-local subjects, including the operations of the T. Eaton Company, various Canadian views, the San Francisco Earthquake, the Russo-Japanese War, the Holy Land, and various scenes of rural life and domestic comedy, including the impact of the “New Woman.” MBMS-14

              Part of Annabel (Siteman) Ells fonds
              Series forms part of the Annabel (Siteman) Ells fonds and consists of family photographs and negatives. Included are many photographs of the Ship Harbour area and its residents, particularly Annabel’s home there, both interior and exterior views, the landscape, gardens, her parents, herself, her husband Eddie, and the family’s animals. There are also many photographs of the places where Annabel lived in Halifax including both interior and exterior views, photographs from trips to Ontario and the United States and different locations in Nova Scotia including Peggy’s Cove, Berwick, Kingsport, and Toney River, Pictou Co. where Annabel’s mother was from. Also included are photographs of Eddie Ells and his first wife taken before and after their marriage as well as photographs with their family members in Kingsport where Eddie was from and in Prince Edward Island where his first wife Lillian Genge came from. There are also photographs of Annabel’s friends and colleagues including Peggy Richard Standring and the women who Annabel worked with at the Income Tax Office in Halifax as well as staff members of the Provincial Archives. Also included are a number of unidentified photographs of various people and locations, photographs of a flying club, tombstones, pet cemeteries, railway photographs, automobiles, activities, buildings, ships and other relatives and acquaintances of Annabel and Eddie Ells.               Fonds consists of one ledger book. The book served as an account ledger, minute book and plot record for the first 50 years of the Company's operation. It records the names, dates of burial and plot number for the deceased. It also contains reports of the annual meetings. As the Company is still in operation, a number of records were removed from the ledger. These included the names of founding members and numbers of shares owned, act of incorporation, by-laws, and the founding minutes. It is hoped that these will be deposited at the Archives as a future date.

              The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries.
