Administrative history
The congregation of the Cape Sable Island Free Baptist Church of the township of Barrington, Nova Scotia, was organized 22 March 1821 by Elders Asa McGray and Thomas Crowell. In the spring of 1820 there was a religious revival on Cape Sable Island and as a result, a church was organized at Centreville as a branch of the Barrington Passage Church. A year later it became a separate organization with McGray as pastor and Crowell as the assistant pastor. In 1841 this church was reorganized as part of the Free Will Baptist Conference in Maine.
