        History

Chalmers Presbyterian Church was built at Lochaber, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia in July 1869. It formed part of a pastorate with Loch Katrin. In 1925 Chalmers Presbyterian did not join the United Church of Canada. It was reduced to a Presbyterian mission and was serviced by student ministers in the summers after 1925. The Chalmers Church building burned to the ground 25 April 1950. The United Church in Lochaber welcomed the displaced parishioners and eventually the new church was called New Chalmers United Church.
