              Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007

              Part of Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds
              Series forms part of the Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds and consists of locally produced publications related to the history of communities on the Eastern Shore. Included in the series are two publications on the history of St. James Church and Jeddore, commemorating the 130th and 150th anniversaries of the St. James congregation, dated 1963 and 1983 respectively. Also included is the revised 1979 edition of a publication written by David E. Stephens, entitled the Story of the Musquodoboit Railway. Series also contains an article written by Margaret Davis entitled, Historical Society answers questions, which discusses how Grace Forsythe and Helen Jennex of the Marine Historical Society helped to answer the question of how Ava and Evangeline Kent passed away in the late1800s. The question was posed after the author discovered their graves in a forgotten graveyard in Pleasant Point. The article also discusses the resources offered by the Society and the publications that they issue. Series also contains a handwritten, one page history of the Red Cross Society in Jeddore. Also included are the histories of Jeddore businesses written by students, c. late 1940s. Businesses mentioned include Nathanial Dooks’ grocery store, the Jeddore post office, B. O. Myers grocery store, and Ralph Bonn’s blacksmith shop. Accession number: 2010.032

              Subseries consists of one booklet and two pages featuring the minutes of the annual congregational meetings of the United Church. Booklet also contains financial reports. Also includes one letter written by Mr. Gaetz concerning calling a meeting of the board.

              Part of Helen Jennex fonds
              Sub-series forms part of history and heritage activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of records relating to research undertaken by Helen Jennex and possibly others into local history and events in the Eastern Shore. Sub-series contains two booklets, one describing the history of the Clam Harbour Church and one, written by Jennex, describing the history of the West Jeddore School. Sub-series also contains clippings relating to local events and people. Accession number 2009.039
              Mrs. Stanley Robson fonds

              Fonds consists of records of the activities of Mrs. Stanley Robson and includes a copy of a handwritten history of the Clam Harbour United Church by Mrs. Robson, as well as an original handwritten review of the Church’s history. The texts were created in preparation for the 1967 centennial celebrations of the Church, with the review to be used as a sermon to the church’s congregation. Mrs. Robson spent two years preparing the history, and stated that she relied mostly on her memory, with the aid of records and information from other residents of the area. The review includes a brief conclusion and some annotations written in a hand other than Mrs. Robson’s. Accession number: 2010.018

              The first three series of the fonds consist of essays and research written and compiled by Mr. Patrick Milligan and Mr. D. Engram’s grade ten students at Eastern Shore District High School between 1973 and 1980 as part of a class project on local history. The essays include information about various aspects of the history of the Eastern Shore such as industries and occupations, activities, cemeteries, churches, individuals, houses, education, and family and community history. Selected essays from Mr. Milligan’s local history course, 1974-1975, were compiled into a school publication called The Shore Thing, a preliminary copy of which is included in the fonds. The purpose of the book was to introduce students to their own area and familiarize them with the history of local communities along the Eastern Shore. It was placed in the school library for the benefit of all students. The fonds also consists of yearbooks and a newspaper published by the school during the first ten years of its operation.               Collection consists of copies and transcriptions of records from various churches and parishes that were located on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia or which were used by Eastern Shore residents. The collection contains baptismal, marriage, burial, and confirmation records along with other church records, dating from 1752 to 1982. Some records are on microfilm or have been copied from microfilm, while others are typed or handwritten transcriptions of records. 2003.010, 2004.008, 2011.024

              Series includes photocopies from microfilm baptismal, burial, and marriage records from St Paul's Anglican Church. These records show the first ninety years of baptisms, including the records generated during the settlement of Halifax and its early history, the Revolutionary War period, the Loyalist emigration to Nova Scotia, and the post-Napoleonic years. Before the establishment of St. Stephen’s parish, many of the early birth, marriage, and death records for the Lake Charlotte area can be found at St. Paul’s. Records span the years 1753-1857. 2003.010
