              Fonds consists primarily of documents related to Katherine L. Stoddard’s research and her interest in genealogy, particularly that of her own family. Stoddard’s records include information related to many Eastern Shore families, including the Stoddard and Ritcey families, as well as local history. Fonds also includes correspondence, cookbooks and handwritten recipes, photographs, postcards, maps, certificates, land grants, yearbooks, deeds, and wills. Accession number: 2013.008

              Series is part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and consists of one business card for Pringle & London, suppliers of decorative leaded glass including ecclesiastical stained glass and memorial windows as well as importers of antique, cathedral and opal glass. They were located in Toronto and may have been employed by Judge Frederick Montye ‘Monty’ Morson (1853-1944) to supply a new window for the Clam Harbour United Church. Judge Morson stayed at the Stoddard Hotel in Clam Harbour every summer for thirty years and donated a memorial window to the church. Series also includes one black and white photograph of Judge Morson c. 1936. Accession number: 2013.010

              Sub-series forms part of history and heritage activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of original illustrations of historical Eastern Shore tools and fishing techniques. The illustrations have captions and were probably used in displays put on by Helen Jennex and/or other members of the Marine Highway Historical Society and Fisherman’s House Museum. Sub-series also includes two original watercolours, one of Devil’s Oven, Clam Harbour, and one of Clam Harbour Beach. The watercolours are signed “W.R. Symons” and are dated to 1958.               Series forms part of the Katherine L. Stoddard fonds and consists of genealogical research and records pertaining to various Eastern Shore families. The families who feature most prominently are the Stoddards and Ritceys (Henrici), however, the Shellnut, Eisan, Anderson, Siteman, Gaetz (Gates), Newcomb, Bayers, Robson, MacEachern, Blaxland. Records appear primarily the result of research conducted by Katherine Stoddard, however, some records note that documents were copied by Annabel Siteman Ells and may have been intended for Katherine’s mother, Eva, who may also have conducted genealogical research. Series also includes an incomplete copy of A Brief History of the Stoddards of Halifax County written by Elsie Florence Stoddard. Records include information on many pioneer families on the Eastern Shore, including the families of Thomas Stoddard, Leonard and Martin Gaetz, and Henry Seidman (Seidemann) as well as information on the origins of the Ritcey family beginning with Johannis Christophorus Henrici. Records include handwritten information, copies of information from various sources including vital statistics and newspapers, and books in which Katherine Stoddard recorded information about her own family, one of which features a drawing of a map that shows various landowners around Clam Harbour and Owl’s Head.               Series is part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and contains one booklet from The Great-West Life Assurance Company that includes financial notes as well as a handwritten will whose author and beneficiaries are unknown. Series also includes one Halifax County tax receipt to Walter Stoddard from 1903, one life insurance policy for W. E. Stoddard from 1914 and one insurance policy renewal notice. Series also consists of one permit for transit from Halifax to Clam Harbour for the body of Florence Stoddard, sister of Laura Stoddard. Accession number: 2013.010

              Series forms part of the Burris Russell fonds and consists of an unemployment insurance commission book from 1969-1970 that belonged to Burris Russell. Series also contains a bill of sale dated April 7, 1962 for a fishing boat sold to Wallace Russell by Burris Russell for two hundred and fifty dollars. Thomas ‘Wallace’ Murray Russell and Burris ‘Bub’ Russell were second cousins twice removed. Accession number: 2013.017
