              Item consists of a monthly time book that records the names of men and hours worked on a project from September to December 1942. It includes the names of at least sixty men who were working shifts of usually ten hours each day from Monday to Saturday. The name of the foreman given is Garth M. L. Hosking and the name B.H. Mitchell on the cover indicates that he was likely the contractor. The book also records the use of B.H. Mitchell's horse and truck, Reg Day's horse, and another company's truck. Although the nature of the project is not described, the men were probably working on constructing large floating barges to be used as part of the war effort during World War II. The barges were constructed locally at Hartlin Settlement and then carried by tugboat to Halifax Harbour. The main timbers used were imported, but the decking came from local mills, including Byron Mitchell's. Also recorded in the book are shifts worked by Garth Hosking during May and June 1943.               Item consists of a typed letter addressed to Avon Bayers, asking if he was interested in a job painting a house and if so, whether he could call at 44 1/2 Almon, Street in Halifax to pick up the supplies, which had already been purchased. The letter is unsigned but was written at 44 1/2 Almon Street on July 8, 1947. Accession number: 2013.062

              The fonds consists of administrative files, community involvement details, contract records, correspondence, employee records, financial documents, job estimates and job files, legal documents, photographs, plans, printed material, notes on solar heating projects, sound recordings, and union/association documents, as well as a series with material from the Murphy and Wharton Company. This material spans over 100 years from 1858 to 1987, and illustrates how business was conducted (meetings, annual reports, accounting and financial statements) and the relationship with the community (both charitable and with other businesses). There are also very detailed accounts of the work done by the company, from initial quotes through to project planning, blueprints, product literature, and finishing. Together the items demonstrate the organizational structure, management, and operations of the Powers Brothers company. These items provide insight into business operations in Nova Scotia throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries. MS-4-86
              Fonds
              This fonds consists of records that document the administrative and operational activities of IBEW Local 625. As the union which represents inside electrical workers across mainland Nova Scotia, Local 625 engages in a variety of activities which are represented in this fonds; these include employer negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, labour advocacy, workers' training and education, strike coordination, recreational events, and membership advocacy. The records in this fonds were created by the union's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership, and business associates. MS-9-55
