Administrative history

The Corning and Chipman Law Firm was founded by Thomas E. Corning and Lewis Chipman, barristers of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia who acted as agents for the London and Lancashire Life Assurance Company. Thomas Corning also served as the Yarmouth County treasurer and Lewis Chipman served as town solicitor. The firm also acted as solicitors to the Imperial Merchant Service Guild at Yarmouth. The Guild's membership was comprised of captains and officers of the merchants marine, and was based in Liverpool, England.

File contains correspondence from Corning and Chipman, a law firm based in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Materials were created in 1879, 1881, 1888, 1891, 1893-1903, 1906, 1912, 1915, 1917 and 1923.
