Administrative history
The Board, which existed 1982-1996, had nine members; five were appointed by Council and four by the Governor in Council. It took over from the Board of School Commissioners and existed until amalgamation with the Halifax Regional School Board in August 1996. The Board met monthly. The Board managed school buildings, hired and fired teachers and employees, and made regulations about:
a. Meetings of the board;
b. The duties of the employees of the board;
c. Discipline in the schools, the welfare of pupils, and the care of school property;
d. Determining the areas where pupils of each school must come from; ande. Care and protection of school property and the hours during which the schools may be open.
