    Biographical history

    David Vance was a resident of Londonderry, Nova Scotia. He was the son of John and Mary (Kelly) Vance, born in Ireland. The Vance family immigrated to Nova Scotia in 1761. He married Jane Hill, the sister of the Honourable Charles Hill, who died in 1827. Vance was a farmer and shipbuilder. He died in 1832 at Portapique, N.S.
