Biographical history
George Killam was the son of Thomas Killam and Sophia Corning, born 13 January 1824 at Yarmouth, N.S. He married Caroline Clements, the daughter of Capt. Reuben. They had seven children: Albert, Sophia, George, Minnie, Gilbert, and Edgar. Killam died on 17 October 1867 at the age of 43. He was closely involved in the shipping industry and provincial politics. Killam played a large role in shipping and shipbuilding firm Thomas Killam and Company, which later became known as Killam Brothers, with his brother Thomas and Thomas' brother-in-law William K. Dudman.

Fonds consists of business correspondence, receipts, promissary notes, records regarding the settling of the estate of George Killam and a published copy of an address made by George Killam to "the electors of the County of Yarmouth."
