Biographical history
Gerald Patrick Flavin, son of John and Mary (Shea) Flavin, was born at Halifax on 12 January 1899. He received his law degree from Dalhousie University in 1923. Flavin was active in the Conservative Party and ran unsuccessfully for Halifax North in the provincial elections of 1933 and 1937. At the time of his death he was president of the Halifax City and County Progressive Conservative Association. He died 9 May 1962.

Consists of records documenting Flavin's political and personal activities, including general files, 1924-1937, mostly concerning the provincial election in 1928 and Conservative Party organization; three scrapbooks documenting the 1925 and 1926 federal elections, Maritime Rights movement, and 1928 provincial election; diaries, 1933, 1935; notebooks kept while Flavin was a law student, ca. 1920; pamphlets; correspondence; and other miscellaneous items. Photographs also found among the textual records. Also includes correspondence and other material relating to the production of the Archdiocese of Halifax newspaper, The Halifax Gazette.
