        History

Colchester Division began when a guide company was formed at Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia in 1915 under the leadership of Catherine Haskett-Smith. Truro's first Company was formed in 1925 by Violet Mailman, but quickly disbanded. Guiding in both Tatamagouche and Truro occurred sporadically in the county, until c1930. This was the year that Olwen Williams began the first Ranger Cadet Company in Nova Scotia at the Provincial Normal College. From this time onwards, the number of packs and companies grew throughout Colchester Division.
