        History

Hants and Kings were originally one Division which included Hants and Kings Counties, N.S. Ms. M.K. Roechling, a Windsor Guider, was appointed the first Division Commissioner in 1926. By 1936 Guiding had increased dramatically in the area and the Division was divided into Hants District and Kings District. At this time Ruth Porter was appointed Kings District Commissioner and Mrs. M. Monies became the Hants District Commissioner. District membership continued to grow and in 1958 it was designated an Area. The Area continued to grow and new Divisions and Districts were created. Presently Hants and Kings are two separate Areas with their own Area Commissioners. Hants Area is comprised of Avon, Coach Road and Newport Districts. Kings I Area includes the following Districts: Central, Chase, Kings East, Kings North, Kings South and Parker.
