Name of creator
The Board of Health, which existed 1911-1996, was established under the Public Health Act. The Board met at least once a month with additional meetings as required. It dealt with health hazards, private sewage disposal systems, the granting of licenses to sell food, and other matters related to public health.
Scope and content
Sub-series consists of case files of inspections of property owned by individuals, companies, and organizations within the County of Halifax involving health concerns. Case files include correspondence, memos, and health inspection reports, with heavy documentation of the communication between the County Board of Health and the Province of Nova Scotia. Many files deal with sewer concerns and other health-related issues regarding poorly maintained properties and buildings.

Files were transfered from the Municipal Clerk's Office in 2008.
