Sub-series consists of case files of inspections of property owned by individuals, companies, and organizations within the County of Halifax involving health concerns. Case files include correspondence, memos, and health inspection reports, with heavy documentation of the communication between the County Board of Health and the Province of Nova Scotia. Many files deal with sewer concerns and other health-related issues regarding poorly maintained properties and buildings.
Files are arranged alphabetically by subject or location.
Case files were selected from a larger accession based on the size of the file, its relevance to environmental issues which are of ongoing concern, and/or files which are of significance to communities. The sampling of case files is based on the rational that the aforementioned types of records would be of greater public interest and show to the greatest extent the operations of the Board of Health.
