History

The Committee on Tenders and Public Property, which existed 1880-1951, was a standing committee and its members were appointed annually by Council. The Committee examined tenders received for public work and loans and controlled the management of public property, including the County Jail and the County Home and Mental Hospital. Originally referred to as the Public Property Committee it was known as the Tenders and Public Property Committee by 1921.
