Biographical history

Harrison Flint Lewis (1893-1974) was born in Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York and was a graduate of Acadia University in 1917. He was Chief Migratory Bird Officer for Ontario and Quebec from 1920 to 1943 and Chief of the Canadian Wildlife Service from 1947 to 1952. Retiring in 1952, he moved to West Middle Sable in Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. A life-long ornithologist, he served on many local and regional naturalist organizations as well as being a prolific researcher and writer.
