Scope and content

Sub-series consists of images documenting the restoration, development, and opening of Historic Properties and the neighbouring Granville Mall and Barrington Place shops. Both Lou and Pam were heavily involved in civic activism leading to the preservation of the area against the proposed Harbour Drive in the late 1960s. Pam recorded the changes to the collection of waterfront heritage buildings from their beginnings as warehouses, to their growth into a commercial and tourist district. Identified buildings and features include: Collins bank and stone warehouses, Pickford and Black wharf, the ordinance wall, the 1812 wall, privateer's wharf, Cronan's wharf, Granville Mall, Simmond's, Prince of Wales building, Nelson Seed, Jericho warehouse, Granville and Buckingham, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, Barrington Place and the Cogswell Interchange.
