History

Captain David S. Howard was born in Port Greville, N.S. He went to sea at an early age and became Captain of the Parrsboro-built schooner Gilbert Bent at the age of nineteen. He also was the Captain of Brigantine Landora. For a time, Captain Howard turned towards shipbuilding, but later returned to sea as the Captain of some of the schooners he built including the Davida, Earl of Aberdeen and the H.J. Logan. He passed away on June 12, 1911 at the age of 65.
