Fonds consists of the Commission Counsel Arthur L. Thurlow’s legal research files and correspondence (1955-1956); typed hearing transcripts (February, April 1956 and June 1957); documents submitted as evidence labeled Exhibits W/1 to W/53 and W/B, W/C, W/F, W/G to W/O, including crown land grants, past survey maps of the Harrington River and Five Islands area and Plans 1 to 3 survey maps showing disputed area created by government surveyor Joseph Archibald July-August 1956 (collected 1956); survey progress report with photographs from J. Archibald (1956); the unpublished final report with cover letter (1959); Book of Documents compiled by Thurlow containing copies of the statutes (acts), Orders-in-Council, and civil law suit of 1944 pleadings, evidence, and decision of Justice Doull, intended to be part of the final report (compiled 1956). Fonds also includes a brief from Colchester County (1957); public notices newspaper clippings (1956); some receipts and administrative correspondence to Thurlow (1955-1956); tax assessment rolls for District 19 Five Islands 1930-1931 (collected 1956); and copies of legislation on county boundaries 1851-1928 (collected 1956).

Fonds consists of typed hearing transcripts in 3 volumes (January 26-30, 1959); mine plans showing locations of bumps in 1928, 1938, 1950, 1951, 1958, an overall plan of mine layout for No.2 and No.4, a schematic diagram of longwall face, and plan of No.2 Coal Seam (collected 1959); Chairman McInnes’ cover letter and the signed manuscript of the final report submitted to government including manuscript versions of appendices A, C, D, E, F, G, and H (1959).

Fonds consists of briefs and submissions from individuals, towns/municipalities, organizations, and schools/boards organized by the Commission by type of group, with a name index (1971); copies of briefs annotated by the Chair of the Commission (1971); summaries of public and private hearings, and summaries of Commissioners’ planning meetings with a subject index for first 29 meetings (1971-1974); Chair’s handwritten meetings and hearing notes in 12 notebooks (1971-1975); incoming and outgoing correspondence with Ministers and Premier Gerald A. Regan (1971-1975); and Commissioner Harris’ annotated copies of briefs (1971). Fonds also includes lists of public and private hearings (1972); list of briefs/submissions sent in confidence (1972); commission’s terms of reference and procedural records (1971); press releases, public invitations, biographies of commissioners, and premier’s speaking notes (1971-1974); and a photograph of the commissioners at a hearing (1971). Also includes an incomplete set of the Final Report (missing Volume 3 chapters 1 to 35), the table of contents volume, and the Synopsis (1974).
