Item consists of photographs of the Armed Forces Memoral in Norfolk, Virginia, presented to Peter Kelly, Mayor of Halifax, on the occasion of a visit between the two cities. The photographs show the memorial from different angles, including close-ups of portions of the memorial that are made to look like letters scattered on the ground. A caption accompanying the photographs reads: "Armed Forces Memorial / Presented to / Mayor Peter J. Kelly / on the Occasion of the / Visit of Norfolk Sister City / June 2010." 400-11-1-2.007

Item consists of a quilted wall hanging with multi-coloured embroidery on a dark green background. In the centre of the hanging, there is a gold silk panel with a pattern of green leaves. The message "A Happy 250th Anniversary" is embroidered on the upper right corner, which refers to the 250th anniversary of Halifax's founding in 1749. The back of the hanging is made of a gold floral-patterned silk. The hanging is possibly a gift from Hakodate. 400-11-1-4.8

Lamp shaped like a Japanese pagoda

Item consists of a table lamp shaped like a Japanese five-story pagoda, known as a Goju-no-to. The lamp was given to the Halifax Regional Municipality by Hakodate, Japan, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their twinning. The base and roofs of the temple are made of red-stained wood and the rest of the temple is made of darker stained wood. Plastic bells are hung from the corners of each roof and there is a plastic spire on the top. The lamp's lightbulb is installed inside the temple so the light can shine through the temple's windows. 400-11-1-4.10
