Fonds consists of records of the Chezzetcook Historical Society and its members. Textual records were created between about 1900- 1930, 1950- 1955, 1965, and 1974- 2008, but the majority date to between 1974 and 2004. Fonds includes research material, genealogical information, publications, society records regarding its operation, inventories, maps, and photographs. Accession number 2009.018.

Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of records relating to activities and events which the Society and its members organized or participated in, including public displays of historical artifacts, society parties, the dedication of a local war memorial, and the Chezzetcook Acadian celebrations of 2004. Series contains guest books, photographs of events, programs, brochures, correspondence, notes, an article, a newsletter, a videocassette, and other material. Series also contains entries in two competitions organized by the society for local grade six and seven students; one for a design for the Society’s seal and one for a 500-word essay on a local historical topic. In addition, series includes correspondence, clippings and other material related to society members’ involvement in an early 1980s movement to prevent the government from running Highway 107 through the Chezzetcook Marshes.

Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of records relating to research undertaken by Society members on topics such the history of local towns, institutions, and businesses (e.g. schools, churches, hotels, telephone companies); activities (e.g. gold mining, road and bridge-building), Acadian history, notable events (e.g. shipwrecks), and folklore. Series contains notes, essays, lecture and speech notes, interview notes and transcripts, copies and transcripts of historical documents (e.g. registers, legal documents, correspondence, deeds), articles and other publications, clippings, term papers, copies of personal scrapbooks, correspondence, and other material. Series also contains questionnaire forms, notes and a brief, handwritten report relating to a survey undertaken in 1975 by Society members in order to identify sources of historical information among the local populace; folklore, and historical artifacts. Also included are some original documents such as a notebook containing a record of government-funded research experiments conducted between 1950 and 1955 at the Chezzetcook Harbour government reserve clam flats; a handwritten document describing how to tan and dye sheepskin, and an annotated copy of the Education Act revised to 1930 which once belonged to the Seaforth School.

Series also includes tax forms and legal documents relating to the Society's legal status as a tax-free charity, as well as correspondence and certificates relating to the Society's membership in associations such as the Federation of Museums, Heritage and Historical Societies of Nova Scotia (later known as the Federation of Nova Scotian Heritage) and the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia. In addition, series includes forms, correspondence and other records related to applications by the Society for government grants.

Series consists of inventories of the Societys records and other holdings created by Society members, including Greg LeBlancs 2003 inventory, a list of oral history interview tapes by Society member and researcher Lena Ferguson, and a list of supplements to genealogies published by Society member Msgr. F. J. Melanson. Series also contains an e-mail printout and some notes relating to the donation of the fonds to the Eastern Shore Archives.

Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of seven maps, each 71 x 114 cm or smaller. Most of the maps are copies of historical property plans, including two copies (one larger and one smaller) of an 1863 plan showing the subdivision of Gaetz and Nieforth properties at Three Fathom Harbour, a 1780s plan showing division of land lots at Lawrencetown, Little Jeddore Harbour (now known as Three Fathom Harbour), and Chezzetcook; an 1881 plan of division of the property of Leonard and Martin Conrod at Seaforth, and an undated plan of early land grants from Musquodoboit Harbour to Chezzetcook. Series also contains two modern maps, including a hydrographic map of the coast from Shut-in Island to Popes Harbour, and a topographical map of Porters Lake.

Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of photographs, including a panoramic black-and-white photograph of Miesner’s Island, Lower East Chezzetcook in ca. 1925- 1926, a black-and-white photograph of oxen teams hauling wood over Porter’s Lake, a colour photograph of a barn, a black-and-white photograph of Rev. Samuel Davies who was rector of the Parish of Seaforth from 1890 to 1925, and two black-and-white portrait photographs of unidentified men.
