Fonds consists of textual records that document the activities of the Department of Asian Studies, their programs, and affiliations with other organizations. The department collaborates in a highly competitive exchange program, where students are able to study in Japan and China, and faculty are able to compete for positions as visiting scholars. The Asian Studies department is also very active in Asian community groups and organizations, and takes part in events such as conferences. There is a high degree of collaboration with other groups and institutions with similar goals. 2008.013.1

Fonds consists of material relating to the administration of the Asian Studies Program. The files date from Paul Bowlby's time as acting coordinator of the Program (during Jim Morrison's sabbatical in 2001-2002). The file contains correspondence, meeting minutes, application packages, and other documents. The materials address funding/grants, exchange programs, a proposed merger with the International Development Studies program, a Japanese language competition, among other topics. 2009.014.1
