Collection primarily consists of ephemera relating to schools and education in the Municipality of the District of St. Mary's, including school newspapers from St. Mary's Rural High, Sherbrooke (ca. 1977-1982); St. Mary's Rural High history and memory books (1988 and 2003); and a St. Mary's Rural High Official Opening program (1953); report cards, school certificates, and an autograph book belonging to Margaret Carroll Sears, a student at Sherbrooke schools, which describe subjects taught and lists local teachers and students (ca. 1948-1960s). Also included are two miscellaneous ephemera items, the Schooner Song Book and a booklet for the Christening Ceremonies, CCGC Bickerton, Transport Canada Coast Guard. 2019.009

Collection comprises two scrapbooks assembled by Ruth Marilyn (Goodman) Pink. The first was created during Goodman's years as a student at Dalhousie and contains photographs; dance cards; place cards; programs; schedules; and memorabilia from freshman initiation and other events. The collection contains assorted reference materials about the history of the Truro, NS area that were acquired and/or created by Harry Nelson over his lifetime. There are 30 cm of research notes on the history of the communities of Colchester County, NS, which also contains correspondence and administrative records of the Colchester Historical Society with respect to exhibition planning. 1996.21.1 - 30

The fonds contains records that demonstrate the academic activities of the staff and students of the Nova Scotia Teachers College, as well as some materials from the previous Nova Scotia Normal College. The series include: calendars, student directories, guide books, essays, examinations, commencement programs, convocation programs, banquet programs, “Teachers Views” newsletters, “Normal Bulletin” newsletters, while all other records are arranged in no particular order. Dominant record types include awards, certificates, Principal’s reports, addresses, and newspaper clippings, letters, newsletters, and records of the Alumni Association. The records provide information on some of the special events of the school, including Athletic Awards banquets, Honours banquets, convocation, commencement, Christmas concerts, Winter Carnival.
