Archibald Beaton fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence of Archibald Beaton, Donald MacDonald and Rev. Ronald Beaton in Rome. Letters deal with the opening of the coal mines at Broad Cove in the late 1890s, a description of Rome, and the ordering of a set of bagpipes as a gift. Interspersed there is also bagpipe music, written by Archibald Beaton. MG 12.31

Fonds consists of the papers of Richard Gibbons Sr., which includes letters, legal documents, and a diary. Fonds also contains papers of Richard Gibbons Jr., which includes correspondence, an almanac and birth registers and papers of Richard Gibbons III, which include certificates and appointments, correspondence and a deed. Records of Napoleon and his son Philip Gibbons are included and consist of correspondence, legal records and photographs. Also included is a watercolour of Jersey Island and a map of the north side of Cow Bay. MG 12.47

Fonds consists of receipts and correspondence related to Smith's general store and his activities as an agent for the MacDonald Brothers, owners of the Glendyer Mills. Correspondence often refers to the political and economic conditions of Cape Breton. Some records of Thomas Murray and Co. are included with Smith's records. Presumably Smith took over the business of Thomas Murray and Co. ca. 1882. One account book from a general store in Port Hood operated by Smith is also included. MG 12.1
