Collection consists of photographs collected by the family of Philip Alberstat. Includes 12 images of the exterior of West House, on Brunswick St, Halifax,when the Goldberg family lived there, 1926-1956 that are snapshots of grandchildren Philip and Lionel Alberstat and daughter Berta who later took over the house from her father. Also includes 13 published class photo-cards from Quinpool Road School, 1937-1943; three class photos from Le Marchant School, 194? and 1946-1947 and Alexandra School, 1936. Two of the LeMarchant St. class photos are of the graduating grade 9 class and have the graduates identified. As well there are 3 images of the construction of the Macdonald Bridge in 1950, one shows a gap in the deck; another shows no deck; another shows a single car crossing. There is also an photograph of a group photograhpof Jewish War Veterans of Atlantic Canada, Halifax Chapter. CR57

Collection partially documents the business and personal lives of Albert Lee’s parents Shew Chuck Lee and Sui Fa Lee, and the families of Charlie Wing Lee and Nellie Lee, Dow Fong, and Mary (Ling) Mohammad. Collection contains wedding, school and family photographs (1910?-2011); restaurant menus and similar transitory documents (ca.1940s-ca.1950s); audio recordings of interviews with Dow Fong, Chuck Lee, Annett Ling, George Ling, William Ling, Dr. Larry Shyu and Dr. William Wong (1988, 2011-2012); memoir on childhood in China, business licenses and card from Chuck Lee (1980s, ca.1920s, 1946) as well as his engineering diploma from Dalhousie University (1939). Also includes a memoir of life at a Halifax Chinese laundry by Linda Lee Oland (1997); historical essays written by Albert Lee (1999-2014) and promotional items for the Nova Scotia Museum exhibit “Growing Up Chinese in Halifax” (1997). The collection was assembled by Albert Lee for this 1997 museum exhibit. 40 items, including 4 audio interview recordings, were subsequently digitized for use by University of British Columbia Library for their digital exhibit “Early Chinese History in the Maritimes” in 2011-2012. Items are arranged by family creator/owner, with those items used in the digital exhibit filed separately.

Collection consists of postcards accumulated by Anna Barbara Webber. Postcards date from 1905 to 1914, but predominantly from 1906 to 1912. Most postcards are addressed either to Anna Barbara or to her (then) future husband William Wilson Webber, although there are also some to other family members. Most of the postcards refer to events and activities on the Eastern Shore and in Dartmouth, where Anna Barbara lived during this time period. Postcards are each assigned an individual number from 1 to 696, and are arranged into five categories pertaining to their styles or types: postcards representing specific communities, landscape postcards, photograph postcards, greeting cards, and romance cards. Within each category, cards are arranged in order of their number. Accession number 2008.013.
