Series forms part of Robert Kim Stevens fonds and consists of one early Italian map of Acadia, Ile Royale and the surrounding area including Ile St. Jean. The map was likely drawn by Jacques-Nicholas Bellin, a French-born hydrographer and geographer who produced many maps of Canada and other French territories in North America and was chief cartographer of the French Navy in 1721 and later Official Hydrographer of the King. 2013.026

Series consists of registers recording baptisms, burials, confirmations and marriages held in the Parish of St. Pauls. Some registers record sacraments administered in Lunenburg, Annapolis Royal, Windsor, and Newport (1749-1861). Also included is the missionary register of William Ellis, which covers areas of Newport, Windsor, Falmouth, Cornwallis, Horton, and Rawdon (1775-1795), as well as the burial register of J. Keefler, sexton (1817-1838). Extant notes from the registers include lists of pew rents and banns, bonds, some marriage certificates and notes in lieu of licenses, the cradle roll of infants born in the parish and a list of pastoral visitations. One parochial register includes an index to vestry minutes from 1759-1895. Sub-series consists of: confirmation documents and service registers

Series forms part of Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in Halifax County fonds and consists of proceedings books that provide the case name, date, and brief notes on court proceedings. Volume 117 provides proceedings of criminal cases only and includes some copies of Commissions of Officers of the Court, with a scale of fees for various officials (1782-1785).

Series forms part of Nova Scotia Court of Vice-Admiralty fonds and consists of records of proceedings of the court for 1749-1794 and 1813 including copies of commission and letters of Marque. Series also includes lists of vessels captured, registers of bail and bond arrangements, abstracts of sales of property by the court, abstracts of causes (1794-1811), records of financial settlements of causes, minutes of proceedings before Charles Fairbanks 1834-1836, 1839-1841, and letters of agency. Part of Nova Scotia Registry of Deeds fonds
Series forms part of the Nova Scotia Registry of Deeds fonds and consists of 336 land transaction registers and other registers, 1749-1903, recording the sale or transfer of land between grantor and grantee, mortgage assignments and releases, quit claim deeds and numerous other documents relating to land transactions. The documents recorded in the land transaction registers are transcriptions (the Registry's copy) of the original documents held by the grantor and grantee. Found amongst the land transaction registers are an Allotment Book (volume 1), 1749-1769; Judgment Books (volumes 163, 218, 228, 241, 254, 271, 289, 305, 336) recording the County and Supreme Court judgments that affected deeded land or mortgages; and a Register of Horses (volume 267), 1887-1908, in which the purchase and sale of horses was recorded. Series also includes a separate registration book for Musquodoboit, which briefly had its own registry and which includes deeds from 1807 to 1821; and one volume of Land Grants (Volume 4). The remaining volumes 1-13 of Land Grants are available on microfilm only; the original volumes have not been transferred to the Archives.

Series forms part of the Eastern Shore Archives map collection and consists of reproductions of maps acquired by Chrystal Kennedy from originals held by the National Archives of Canada in 2003. They consist of early maps of Nova Scotia including Cape Breton, the Island of St John (PEI), New Brunswick, and Sable Island and feature the names of coastal settlements and harbours as well as bodies of water, waterways, and offshore banks. Two of the maps were possibly drawn by Charles Morris I c. 1749 while the third map is a 1928 copy by C. Pettigrew of an earlier map that was originally drawn by Captain Thomas Durrell c. 1736.
