Archival description
Series forms part of Municipality of the District of Argyle (1879-1926) fonds and consists of general and special session minutes of Municipal Council, as well as requests for special sessions. There are two large bound minutes books which contain minutes of the Municipal Council for the years 1880-1904, and 1905-1948. The Municipal Council also published the minutes of the annual and semi-annual meetings from 1881-1949 in a broadsheet format. Series also includes some loose documents which are minutes of special sessions/meetings not recorded in the minute books, and some requests by Councilors for special meetings for the years 1880-1923. The second minute book, beginning with the annual meeting of 10 January 1933, the Municipal Clerk ceased to record the minutes by hand and instead copies of the published minutes were pasted into the book.
Correspondence
Series forms part of Municipality of the District of Argyle (1879-1926) fonds and consists of general correspondence of the office of the Municipality of Argyle related to the following: general correspondence to the Clerk, correspondence from Wardens and Councilors, correspondence from officials such as tax collectors and assessors, requests and letters from the Provincial Government, correspondence with associations such as the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities, correspondence with solicitors, requests for grants, and correspondence related to roads.

Series consists of the records of the Court House-Archives department during the period 2001-2011. Note: Records pertaining to the creation and construction of the New Archives facility, 2001-2006, will be found primarily in the records of the Argyle Municipality Historical & Genealogical Society. Deeds and Legal Documents
Series forms part of Municipality of the District of Argyle (1879-1926) fonds and consists of deeds made to the Municipality of Argyle, mortgages held by the Municipality, title searches performed on behalf of the Municipality, and legal agreements related to the Married Women's Property Act.

Series consists of the records relating to the municipal elections of 2004 and 2008, and are arranged in ten subseries (numbered 1-10) as follows: • Poll Books• Voters lists• Nominaton papers• Provincial legislation, instructions to election officials, etc.• Electoral boundary descriptions• Election results/recapitulation sheets• Advertising• Financial records• Correspondence• Information package for candidates running for office prepared by CAO Note: Not all 10 subseries are found in the records for the two elections, due to inconsistencies in what was retained by the Returning Officers, and subsequently transferred to the archives.
