St. Peter's Church account book (1802-1829, 1 volume), St. Mary's Cathedral account book (1830-1858, 1 volume), pew rent books (1880-1894, 2 volumes), and stole fee records, (1956-1960, 2 volumes) . These records were created to track income and expenses of the parish. Records are arranged chronologically in bound volumes. Pew rent books contain names of parishioners, amounts paid for renting their pew, date of payment, balances brought forward and outstanding accounts. Stole fee records contain names of parishioners who made donations, amounts paid, date of payment and balances brought forward. Amounts quoted are in pounds.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of multiple architectural drawings of St. Mary's Cathedral, the YMCA Hostel, St. Jerome Church Cemetery (in Caledonia, NS), the dwelling house of the Archbishop in 1867 (Birmingham St., Halifax), and St. Mary's Boys' School. Most drawings are original blue prints. Some older drawings are ink on parchment. Records contain measurements of support beams and structures, fences, walls, stairs, roofs, pillars, doors, and materials to be used. Some records show electrical, heating and plumbing detail, pew layout, and window layout. Some records depict the building before and after renovations using different coloured ink. Most records contain the name of the architect or architectural company, date of drawing, scale, number of drawings in the set, and the name of the building. Also included are two land surveys of Mount Olivet Cemetery and St. Patrick's Boys' Home ([1917?]), and St. Patrick's Boys Home Property (1939). Land surveys include surveyor's name, names of roads, property names, fences, walls, materials to be used, and measurements.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of signatures of members of the Confraternity between 1891 and 1910, arranged chronologically. Members were enrolled in the society in a special ritual and presented with a brown scapular. Their names were then entered into the society's roll book and kept at the Cathedral. Under the old system of indulgences, this roll book proved that an individual qualified for a certain number of indulgences. At the back of the book, there are some pages listing mass times as headings (i.e. Morning Mass, 6 O'Clock Mass), with names and amounts. Whether the amounts were membership dues or donations is unclear.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of cash books (1843-1877, 2 volumes), and meeting minutes of the committee and trustees with an alphabetical list of subscriptions in the back of the book (1835-1847, 1 volume). Records are arranged chronologically in bound volumes. The cash books kept a record of all the incoming monies paid by parishioners. The minute book contains records of expenses paid, such as sexton's fee and cost of materials; ongoing balance of account; resolutions; and observations by Bishop Walsh.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of minutes and account book (1840-1849) for the society and an illuminated calligraphy address (11 July 1881) to Monsignor Patrick Power, in recognition of 30 years of service. This society was formed in 1840 to promote Christian education and they founded two free schools for Catholic children: St. Mary's Parochial Male School and St. Patrick's School in the north end of Halifax. The Society members paid the wages of its teachers, awarded prizes to students, and provided clothing and shoes for those who could not afford to buy them. Arranged chronologically, the minutes and account book contains correspondence, member lists, membership dues, resolutions, amounts collected and ongoing totals for individuals at the back of the book, arranged alphabetically.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of minutes of regular meetings of the priest with the parish wardens and electors (prominent laymen of the church) and meetings of parish committees, as well as the rules and regulations governing the Church received from Bishop Plessis of Quebec. Most meetings deal with the planning, building and management of St. Mary's Cathedral.; Records are arranged chronologically in bound volumes and include the names of those in attendance, resolutions, motions, location of meeting, notices and correspondence. There are also journal-like entries by Bishop William Walsh regarding his travels in the 1840s.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of a Latin text written by Archbishop William Walsh (1855-1856), 4 pages long, in the beginning of one bound volume. It is a copy of the official correspondence from Pope Pius IX naming Archbishop Walsh the Metropolitan (or head) in the ecclesiastical province of Nova Scotia and establishing a chapter of advisors to the Bishop in the Archdiocese of Halifax. Priests named to this chapter were called canons.

Series forms part of St. Mary's Basilica (Halifax, N.S.) fonds and consists of four sick call books (1895-1906, 1906-1916, 1916-1925, 1925-1931) which were used to record the details of visits to the sick or dying. Priests were often called to the person's house or hospital bed to offer spiritual comfort through the administration of the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, especially if it was believed the person was near death. The sick call books contain the date of visitation, date of death, name, sacraments received, and the name of the priest who visited. Records are arranged chronologically by date of visitation.
