Lieutenant Kieser, E.A. served in various positions throughout his career. In 1956, he served in RCAF Centralia for the #5515 Pilot Training Course and was awarded his Pilot Wings on October 26th of the same year. He also served in RCAF Saskatoon for Advanced Flying Training School in 1956. In 1957, he was selected for permanent commission and served in HMCS Shearwater for Duty with VS-881 Squadron. He also served in HMCS Bonaventure for VS-881 Squadron in the same year. In 1959, he served in HMCS Shearwater for Naval Air Training School as Senior Instructor. In 1961, he served in HMCS Shearwater for VU-32 Squadron as Officer-in-Charge Advanced Training Flight. He also served in RCAF Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for the #6102 Flying Instructor Course in the same year. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN with seniority dated 25/07/1962. In 1962, he qualified as a Unit Instrument Check Pilot. He served on HMCS Crescent, a C-class destroyer, for his Watchkeeping Certificate in 1964. He also served in HMCS Bonaventure as Air Operations Officer in the same year. In 1967, he served in HMCS Stadacona for Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare School and completed the US Navy-USMC Amphibious Warfare Course in Little Creek, VA. He also served in USNAS Norfolk, Virginia at Maritime Warfare School for Tactical Commander's Course in the same year. In 1968, he served in RCAF Portage La Prairie for the #6807 Flying Instructor Course. He served in CFB Borden, Ontario at Primary Flying School as Flying Training Squadron Commander in the same year. He also served in CFB Borden as Base Operations and Training Officer in 1969. In 1970, he served in Bermuda as Canadian Forces Liaison Officer. He served in CFHQ in 1973. SAM.2011.0052.011b

Dennis Garland 'Bud' Malloy hailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He joined the RCAF on the day World War II began and completed over 60 missions with 402 Squadron before being repatriated to Canada in October 1943. Later, he served as a Flight Commander and instructor. By July 1964, he had risen to the rank of Group Captain and Station Commander at RCAF Goose Bay. Malloy had prior flying experience as a civilian. After graduating from JATP and CFS, he was assigned as the second instructor at SFTS Uplands. In 1942, he was posted to the UK, where he took over 402 Squadron. He was shot down over the Channel but was rescued by a launch. F/L Malloy's logbook contains detailed records of his flying activity during World War II, including his involvement in the Dieppe Raid, notes on missing comrades, weather conditions, and escorting Flying Fortress aircraft on bombing missions. Additionally, there is a picture of a Spitfire aircraft in his logbook. SAM.2002.32.1a

Dennis Garland 'Bud' Malloy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on the first day of World War II and went on to complete over 60 missions with 402 Squadron before returning to Canada in October 1943. He later served as a Flight Commander and instructor at #3 Advanced Flying School at RCAF Station Gimli in Manitoba. By July 1964, he had been promoted to the rank of Group Captain and had become the Station Commander at RCAF Goose Bay. In addition to his achievements and positions, W/C Malloy's log book contains records of his flying time and the aircraft he flew, including the T-33, Yukon, T-29, and C-47. SAM.2002.32.1b

S/Lt Garth Bremner was a member of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve and was attached to the RCAF for flight training. His logbook contains comprehensive notes on aircraft, courses, test results, specialized flying training for navy pilots, exercises, and newspaper articles.S/Lt Bremner began his training at #14 Elementary flying training school in Elmdon, West Midlands, England, flying Tiger Moths. In July 1942, he was transferred to 32 S.F.T.S in Kingston, Ontario, for training on Harvard and Harvard II aircraft. Starting in January 1943, S/Lt Bremner trained on Oxford and Sparrow aircraft at the Royal Naval Air Station Danibristle, located East of Fife, Scotland. In February, he was moved to #1 Naval air Gunnery school in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where he trained on Swordfish and stayed after training to fly Swordfish aircraft until February 1945.In March 1945, S/Lt Bremner was transferred to the Royal Naval Air Station Trinidad, also called NAS Trinidad, NAS Port-of-Spain, which was a large United States Navy naval base built during World War II to support the many naval ships fighting and patrolling the Battle of the Atlantic. S/Lt Bremner flew Grumman Goose, Reliant, Anson1, and Dakota Aircraft on flights to Puerto Rico, Nassau, Baltimore, New York, and New Zealand.The Swordfish HS-469, flown by S/Lt Bremnar, is currently displayed at the Shearwater Aviation Museum. Detailing the logs of training flights, flight exercises, and operations for persons other than primary pilots, who were operating out of the Shearwater area from 1951-1953. The log also details two crashes. One which occurred during an 1952 training exercise, and the other which occurred in 1953. No survivors were recovered in either case. SAM.2005-1

This item is a logbook which was owned by LAC Barclay, who was a wireless operator in the RACF. It contains the details of flights taken between March 1941 and July 1948. The details include whether the flight was a training exercise, operation, or other event; the name of the pilot; aircraft type; and amount of time flying. It is broken down by monthly increments and includes monthly totals for flight time (which is usually broken down between training and operational flights). A total list of operations is included, along with a list of observer units to the training and operations. SAM.2018.0036.005
