Fonds consist of four invoices for goods purchased from suppliers for sale in Cumminger Bros. general store, including Edward Albro & Co., cut nail manufacturers and importers of iron, hardware, chains, anchors &c.; Gordon & Keith, furniture manufacturers and general house furnisher; A. & W. MacKinlay, publishers, booksellers, and stationers; and another unknown firm from which fabrics, gloves, and purses were purchased. Also included is a photocopy of a business card for "Cumminger Brothers, Importers of British & Foreign Merchandise, Sherbrooke, N.S." 2020.028

The fonds consists of architectural plans, Bass River picnic files, correspondence and invoices, counter books, customer and employee records, export papers, interest books, journals, ledgers, legal documents, merchandise invoices, photographs, printed materials, reports and shareholder papers, sales books/journals, sales invoice copy books, statement books, and stock inventories, spanning over 100 years from 1870 to 1975. These materials illustrate accounting methods, the production of and market for chairs, shipping processes, relationships with other companies and the community, etc. The majority of the fonds consists of correspondence and invoices, both to and from Dominion Chair, including orders for company goods, for factory equipment, and items to stock the general store. Together the items are useful in understanding the organizational structure, management, and operations of the Dominion Chair Company, and provide insight into business operations in Nova Scotia throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries. The fonds consists mainly of general business correspondence and financial records recording the financial affairs of the business. The fonds also consist of legal records, mainly indentures and insurance policies for the business, sales and operations records and vessel records, which mainly consist of insurance policies, charter parties and protests. Also included in the fonds are records belonging to the Frieze family such as estate papers, and records from David Frieze's time as a justice if the peace for Hants County, along with electoral records and records belonging to the Maitland Presbyterian church, Sons of Temporance and Maitland school which both Frieze and Roy were involved in.
