Series consists of subject files from the Dartmouth City Administrator's Office. The files are from all aspects of the CAO's involvement with various levels of administration for the City of Dartmouth. A significant portion of the series consists of relevant documents and correspondence with departments and departments heads within the CAO's jurisdiction on matters such as property, services, facilities, complaints, and staffing. These files give a high-level view of most significant events, developments and decisions in Dartmouth's municipal administration. 101-56

Series consists of records of the City of Dartmouth Board of School Commissioners, including minutes and correspondence from 1903-1917, 1936-1980 (missing 1872-1903, 1974). The minutes of the annual meetings of ratepayers of School Section 43 [Dartmouth] for 1864-1872 are in this series. The later minute books also include minutes from the meetings of the Board of School Commissioners Finance Committee, the Board of School Commissioners Teacher's Committee, and the Board of School Commissioners Buildings and Sites Committee. Series also contains 8 ledgers from the Dartmouth School Savings Bank. Teachers recorded the name of students and their weekly deposits and monthly withdrawals to pay for their schooling. At the end of each year the ledger records where the account was transferred (to the next grade) or closed. Some ledgers include the "Pupil's Pass Book" where the teacher noted all payments for each child's family to keep. Ledgers exist for the following schools: Central School - 1902-1912 Greenvale - 1887-1892 Greenvale Grade 1 - 1891-1899 Greenvale Grade 2 - Teacher E. DeVan - 1906-1916 Greenvale/Park Grade 4 Teacher F.J. Corkum - 1918-1922 Park/Central grade 5 - Teacher Miss Allen - 1893-1910 Park Grade 4 - 1906-1921 Woodside -#13 - 1887-1893 Also includes 2 volumes of teachers' contracts, 1889-1897, which give the name of the teacher and their rate of pay. Two Truant Officer's Census registers name children aged 6 to 16 residing in the Dartmouth School Section, 1904-1905 and give their age, name of parent or guardian, street of residence, school last attended and name of the person giving the information. Series also includes a minute book from the Trustees for section 82 (Woodside) for 1949-1955, and a Principals' Meetings scrapbook (1959-1963) with annotated agendas and correspondence. 101-62

For the time period 1878-1883, 1893, 1959-1993, the Clerk/Treasurer kept minutes for boards and committees, together in bound volumes. These are described in Board and Committee minutes and submissions sub-series102-67A and B. When board and committee records were filed separately, there will be a sub-series for each committee's records. 101-67
