Ellen Wainwright

Consists of two photograph albums compiled by Ellen (O'Brien) Wainwright, one containing photographs depicting scenes of Edgehill School for Girls, Windsor, including students, school activities and sports events (1916-1917). The other album depicts military personnel during World War I, celebrations including the Dominion Day parade (1918), house decorated for Armistice Day (1919), military camp at Fort Edward, Windsor (1918), sports and recreation at Edgehill, Windsor, and Evangeline Beach, Kings County, and other scenes in Hants County. Also includes a photograph of three soldiers, one of which is Evan Wainwright, of the 85th Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders. 1996-101

Venables (1930-1931). Elsie Ruth Cassidy

Consists of illustrated texts, valentines, and correspondence given to Elsie Ruth Miller by Barbara Lucas (later Grantmyre) when the the latter was a teenager, along with a subsequent newspaper article. Documents the close relationship between the two women and demonstrate the level of talent that Barbara Grantmyre possessed at a very early age. 2009-038
Enos Collins

Consists of business and personal correspondence created and/or accumulated by Collins, mainly during his early career. Includes both incoming letters and drafts of his responses, as well as legal and financial documents. On the personal side, includes several letters exchanged with Judge Brenton Halliburton (his father-in-law) regarding the latter's financial difficulties, contemporary politics, the West India trade, and legislation, 1824-1832. Also includes several documents concerning the settlement of the estate of Enos's father, Hallet, who died in 1831, including estate inventories, accounts and bills due, and letters to heirs. The health (and subsequent death) of Enos's sister, Hannah Webster, is the subject of other letters between Collins and other relatives in the 1850s. On the business side, several documents concern the Court of Chancery case, "Enos Collins vs. John Tremain et al" regarding the ropewalk property in Halifax, 1816-1843; other documents concern Collins' finances and properties, 1829-1842, and include deeds, mortgages, bonds, releases of mortgages and promissory notes. Consists of a pass for access for the devastated area issued by the City of Halifax and a sixteen page hand-written letter by Ethel Jean Bond to her uncle, Murray Kellough, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. In her letter she describes the devastation of the Halifax Explosion, the death of her father, and the injuries that her sister Bertha sustained, and discusses the impact on various neighbours in the vicinity of Kaye Street in Halifax, including the Swetnams, Killams, and Theakstons, among others. 2010-015

Correspondents include Sir James Kempt, William Young, and daughter Mary (Marshall) Black, wife of William Lang Black. Also contains commissions, appointments, petitions, notes, essays, manuscripts, sermons, newspaper clippings, deeds and other legal documents, financial records, sheet music, and a few poems. Records concern Confederation, temperance, religion, Cape Breton roads, and the Court of Chancery, notably the case of Bown vs Bown.
