The contents of the fonds document his work with Parks Canada, Neptune Theatre, Dalhousie University, and Andrew Cochran Entertainment and more specifically his work with the production Theodore Tugboat. F.W. Borden

Consists of correspondence and other records created and accumulated by Borden while he was minister of militia. Includes Minister's Office bound letterbooks containing outgoing official and private correspondence, 1896-1911. There are also loose letters, many of which concern the day to day transactions of Borden's mercantile business in Canning between 1911 to 1917 and the administration of his estate until 1920. Includes letters written by Borden during the period 1896 to 1911 that were not copied in his letterbooks, some of which relate to the Canadian Contigent in the South African War. Also contains financial records that Borden accumulated as minister, family correspondence covering the years 1849 to 1945 between Borden, his parents, wife Bessie and children, and photographs of Borden family members. Carisse of the Prime Minister’s Office (Ottawa), of a number of events associated with the G-7 Summit held in Halifax in June 1995. Gary Burrill

Consists of records accumulated by Burrill in the course of his research and publication of his book, Away: Maritimers in Massachusetts, Ontario, and Alberta. Includes interviews conducted by Burrill of approximately 108 people who had left the Maritimes to take up residence or find employment in Massachusetts, Ontario, or Alberta. The large majority of the interviews were conducted in 1981 in the aforementioned places. The exceptions are interviews with John Johnston and Leo and Marg St. John which took place in 1980 in the Maritimes after they had returned. Most interviewees were selected through personal contacts of the author. Among the topics discussed in the interviews are: family and work history, reasons for leaving the Maritimes, thoughts on returning to the Maritimes, attitudes of the local people towards Maritimers. Textual records include edited and unedited transcripts of interviews, correspondence, research material and notes, and draft manuscript. MG 1 volumes 3596-3600
Gates Family

Fonds consists primarily of letters that Maude Gates, of Middleton, NS, received from her two sons, Lewis and Starratt, while they were serving in the Canadian Army in Europe during the First World War. There are also letters from other family members writing from New England and Halifax during the same time period as well as a few letters addressed to her husband, Willet. Some letters were written from Halifax in the days following the Halifax Explosion. The fonds contains over 100 handwritten letters, photographs as well as newspaper clippings related to the Gates brothers and the 85th Highlanders battalion. Photographs include formal portraits of Starratt, Lewis, and other family members. Some photographs depict other servicemen and friends of Lewis and Starratt. 2018-003
