Original hand drawn map of Mill Brook, Colchester County. Granted lots near border of western side of DesBarres Grant including family names: Halliday, George, Swan, Clark, Pugh, Oliver. Stamped with a seal visible on paper - appears to belong with a land grant for James Clark.Surveyed by John Spry Morris, Surveyor General, Halifax, Oct. 11, 1845. 88.14
Bible, bookmarks, and ribbon

Bible has a brown hard cover. "R. Mills" is stamped on the inside of the 2nd page. The bible belonged to Robert Mills and was given to John and Catherine Amberman. The bible was found in the Amberman House attic, Granville Ferry, in 1964. Inside are written the names of the Amberman's children: John Leslie Amberman (born Sept 18, 1865), Minnie Vance Amberman (born March 17, 1870), Charles Austin Amberman (born Jan 6, 1875), and Edwin Knowles Amberman (born Jan 26, 1878). Written on the same page is "Printed in 1847 for the British and Foreign Bible Society". Printed by George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode. Inside the bible are book markes embroidered on perforated paper, 2 backed with silk ribbon ('b' and 'f'), 3 without backing ('c'-'e'), and 1 length of silk ribbon ('g'). 'b' has a circle of coloured flowers on mesh background with "Forget me not" in pink thread. 'c' has "Holy Bible" in black and grey thread on an off-white mesh. 'd' has "Sweet home" in pink thread and a house with a red roof, green grass, and trees. 'e' has "Touch not the cup" in green thread and a chalice in red with some blue. 'f' has "true love can never forget" in green thread and is encircled by pink flowers and green leaves. 'g' is just the ribbon. 018.77

Levi Hart letters

Consists of eight letters from Joseph Howe to his business contact Benjamin Wier & Company of Halifax, and then to the firm of Wylde, Hart & Company, also of Halifax. Written just prior and during Mr. Howe’s time as Premier of Nova Scotia (1860-1863), most of the letters contain routine business matters and one letter mentions the dismissal of [Jonathan] McCully from a political post. 2014-026
