Series consists of Records of the activities of Council were taken and kept as required by the 1880 Incorporation Act and its amendments from incorporation in 1880 until the Municipality of the County became part of Halifax Regional Municipality in 1996. These include minutes of the proceedings of all meetings of Council - including regular and special meetings, as well as 'Meetings for the despatch of business' - and by-laws and recorded resolutions; photographs of councillors, and records of committees of council. The records pertain to all aspects of local governance. 312-1

Fonds consists of records created and/or accumulated and used by the Halifax Harbour Commissioners as well as some records maintained by the City of Halifax pertaining to the Halifax Harbour Commission. The fonds includes agreements, briefs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, meeting minutes, maps, and drawings. Records primarily pertain to efforts in the late 1920s and early 1930s to have a bridge built between Dartmouth and Halifax. Fonds consists of a scrapbook compiled by Charles F. Longley. It primarily documents Longley's interest in the Melville Park/Melville Cove properties adjacent to his land on the west side of the Northwest Arm, owned by Sandford Fleming and the War Department (DND). The scrapbook contains correspondence, mortgage documents, tax assessments from the County of Halifax and surveyor's reports. There are also newspaper clippings, photographs and letters about his company and the boats he owned, and his family. CR17

Fonds consists of files compiled by Bob Frame, leader of a residents' campaign against the relocation of Little Nashville country music cabaret to the Canal Street area of downtown Dartmouth. Dartmouth residents fought the request by Little Nashville owner Cyril O'Hearn to transfer his cabaret liquour licence when his 20 year-old Alderney Drive location was demolished for construction of the new library/civic centre, later named Alderney Gate. Records include reports, petitions to Dartmouth City Council, letters of support, newsclippings, correspondence with the Nova Scotia Liquor License Board, notices of public meetings, research notes, and photographs of the Canal Street area of Dartmouth. The family was suggested to the Margaret Rose Friendship Club by the Red Cross.
