Fonds consists primarily of records created and accumulated by Claude Webber’s parents, Leonard Stanley and Greta (Lewis) Webber as well as Claude’s aunt, Mrs. Alexander ‘Sandy’ Webber (Ada Parker). Greta and Ada Webber were both involved with the Upper Lakeville Ladies' Sewing Guild. Fonds also consists of Leonard Webber’s military records from World War I, the account books and receipts of the Ladies' Sewing Guild, and other invoices and receipts. Accession number 2013.037

Part of Association for Preservation of the Eastern Shore fonds
Series forms part of Association for Preservation of the Eastern Shore fonds and consists of records related to the Association’s activities after the abandonment of the Ship Harbour National Park proposal in late 1973. After this time, the Association shifted its focus to monitoring, advocating and lobbying government officials on a number of issues of concern to Eastern Shore residents. Among these were environmental issues, including pesticide spraying and illegal dumping; safety and law enforcement issues, including speeding and unsafe driving on and around Clam Harbour Beach; and the promotion of local residents’ interests, including concerns about the hiring practices of the Nova Scotia Job Corps programme. The National Park proposal’s provincial successor, the Eastern Shore Seaside Park System, was also of concern to the Association, and it spent some energy advocating for local involvement in its planning (including supporting the Park’s Citizen’s Representative Committee), and later lobbying for the Park’s speedy completion. Series contains correspondence, meeting minutes, notes, clippings, newsletters, reports, briefs, resolutions, articles, membership lists, membership cards, petitions, posters, and other material. Series includes a 1980 government publication about the Eastern Shore Seaside Park System.

Part of Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds
Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of records relating to activities and events which the Society and its members organized or participated in, including public displays of historical artifacts, society parties, the dedication of a local war memorial, and the Chezzetcook Acadian celebrations of 2004. Series contains guest books, photographs of events, programs, brochures, correspondence, notes, an article, a newsletter, a videocassette, and other material. Series also contains entries in two competitions organized by the society for local grade six and seven students; one for a design for the Society’s seal and one for a 500-word essay on a local historical topic. In addition, series includes correspondence, clippings and other material related to society members’ involvement in an early 1980s movement to prevent the government from running Highway 107 through the Chezzetcook Marshes.

Part of Eastern Shore District High School fonds
Series forms part of the Eastern Shore District High School fonds and consists of essays written by students pertaining to the history of different areas along the Eastern Shore. Areas included are Bayers Settlement, Chezzetcook, Clam Harbour, Gaetz Brook, Jeddore, Lake Charlotte, Upper Lakeville, Lake Echo, Little Harbour, Musquodoboit Harbour, Ostrea Lake, Petpeswick, Porters Lake, and Ship Harbour. The essays feature topics such as occupations, industries, sports, electricity, tools, education, transportation, census information, the early mail run, the general history of the area and its inhabitants as well as changes that have occurred over the years. Included in the series is the draft of the publication, The Shore Thing, which was a compilation of selected essays from the grade ten local history projects in 1974 to 1975. In addition to the essays, the publication contains jokes, recipes, puzzles and stories. There is also a photocopied picture of ice houses in Lake Banook and a photocopied article about the vessel, Fleur de Lis.

Sub-series contains two booklets, one describing the history of the Clam Harbour Church and one, written by Jennex, describing the history of the West Jeddore School. Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of records relating to research undertaken by Society members on topics such the history of local towns, institutions, and businesses (e.g. schools, churches, hotels, telephone companies); activities (e.g. gold mining, road and bridge-building), Acadian history, notable events (e.g. shipwrecks), and folklore. Series contains notes, essays, lecture and speech notes, interview notes and transcripts, copies and transcripts of historical documents (e.g. registers, legal documents, correspondence, deeds), articles and other publications, clippings, term papers, copies of personal scrapbooks, correspondence, and other material. Series also contains questionnaire forms, notes and a brief, handwritten report relating to a survey undertaken in 1975 by Society members in order to identify sources of historical information among the local populace; folklore, and historical artifacts. Also included are some original documents such as a notebook containing a record of government-funded research experiments conducted between 1950 and 1955 at the Chezzetcook Harbour government reserve clam flats; a handwritten document describing how to tan and dye sheepskin, and an annotated copy of the Education Act revised to 1930 which once belonged to the Seaforth School.

Series is part of the Katherine L. Stoddard fonds and consists of a recipe book containing handwritten recipes as well recipes written on loose pages. The recipe book contains recipes that likely have been passed down through families, friends, and generations as indicated by some that are noted as being “Eva’s” and were passed down from Katherine’s mother Eva Stoddard. Part of Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds
Series forms part of the Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds and consists of records related to Alexander ‘Sandy’ and Cora (Harpell) Myers, who was the sister of Grace’s mother. Cora was born on January 26, 1896 in West Jeddore and became a teacher in the early 1900s. She and her husband Sandy (1893-1957) owned the Salmon River House where Grace lived for several years following her retirement. A note found among the records indicates that they were used by Grace to help create the publications produced by the Marine Highway Historical Society. The series includes a photograph of Cora Harpell’s class at Ostrea Lake School in 1915 with the names of the students; a scrapbook containing clippings of songs; stories; and the prize winners of a matrimonial letter contest featuring Cora’s entry, No Fake Gentleman. Also included are various clippings regarding her school in Ostrea Lake; her graduating class from the Provincial Normal College in 1914; as well as handwritten poems and stories. Series also includes the lyrics to the Normal College school song, an application for a teacher’s license in 1912 that was rejected because she was too young, and a teacher’s license issued in 1914, as well as an earlier letter from a friend in1911. Cora died in Musquodoboit Harbour on February 24, 1995 at the age of 99. Series also contains receipts including postal and remitters’ receipts, invoices, ration forms and coupons, product labels, local business letterhead and advertisements, coupons, tax assessments, a tax notice, and enumeration records. Also included is correspondence to Sandy Myers from people coming to Salmon River House, a Christmas card from Arnold Logan, a Guide’s License, and an order form for a vest. Accession number: 2010.032
