Consists of warrants for payments to trustees, general correspondence about schools in the county, statistical returns and reports, petitions, grants, abstracts, some minutes of the school boards, teacher contracts, attendance records, financial account books, home and school association minutes, Halifax Commercial College finances (1887-1892), and in the 1820's and 1830's there are some general returns giving the names and ages of pupils and names of parents or guardians, and lists of schools in the county. Also includes Annual School Directories of NS (1952-1954) and material on school boundaries. RG 14

Consists of 30 VHS videotapes containing 33 television advertisements submitted to the Time4Dsign competition in the TV Advertisement category (3.05). The competition was juried, and organized by the Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. Seven-hundred entries were considered, submitted by over 90 graphic designers and directors working across Atlantic Canada. The other categories in the competition included: (1) Visual identity programs; (2) Publications; (4) Product; (5) Environmental; and (6) Special.

Item is a handwritten certificate awarding John Frederick Traugott Gschwind with an Order of Military Merit (Orden pour la Vertu Militaire) from the Hessian Army signed by Frantz Carl Erdman von Seitz. It is written in French and German, with a red wax seal attached. On the back is written “Discharge from the Hessian --?-- 1st June 1782”. Provides additional documentation on the presence of the Hessian Army in Halifax after the American Revolutionary War.

Consists of 5 telegrams to Howard’s parents William and Maud Pentelow from the Royal Canadian Naval College and from Deputy Minister of Naval Services (Dec 7 to 9, 1917); a letter from Howard to his mother Maud detailing his experience of the Halifax Explosion on Dec 6, 1917 (Dec 1917) and treatment in hospital; and 2 photographic copy prints of Howard Pentelow in uniform, taken later (ca.1920s).

Images include ships in Halifax Harbour firing their guns at night, crowds of people on the street with some carrying boxes, damaged store fronts, and a group of soldiers at a restaurant lunch counter.
Violet M. Fry Halifax Explosion Memoir

Fonds consists of a handwritten memoir by Violet M. Fry written in 1967 containing 2 pages of verse and 7 pages of narration recounting her experience of the explosion on December 6, 1917, the subsequent search for missing Currie family members with her father James Currie, and her family’s living conditions in the weeks following the Halifax Explosion. Also includes a copy of a 1932 photograph of Violet at age 30 with her husband Wilfred Fry and four children.
