Stainer family collection
Fonds · 1849-1996
Collection consists of genealogical records relating to the family of noted English composer and organist, Sir John Stainer (1840-1901), compiled by J.F.R. Stainer. The contents of the collection include notes compiled by Stainer, along with correspondence, photographs, and related genealogical documents including references to family connections with Flora MacDonald of Scotland and Jane Austen. The records were donated to complement Stayner family records documenting the connection with Roger Stayner who emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts in the 1630s. Roger Stayner was a nephew of Admiral Sir Richard Stayner, of Tarrant Gunville, Dorset, England. This Stayner had descendants who came to Nova Scotia so the Stainer family collection complements that genealogical information. Accession 1996-279
